What does this adapter do?

The Soundgate FDPD4 allows you to connect your iPod or iPhone to your compatible factory installed audio system. With the Soundgate FDPD4, you can control many iPod functions from your factory radio, steering wheel controls or the iPod's own controls. The Soundgate FDPD4 will also charge your iPod's battery while connected.

Other application notes:

If your vehicle has both Rear Seat Entertainment, AND factory installed satellite radio, one of them will need to be disconnected to use this adapter.

Where is the installation done?

The Soundgate FDPD4 connects to the 16 and 24 pin connectors at the rear of the factory radio.

Stanrard radios must have a button marked "AUX", while touchscreen units will use the touchscreen source selection.
